Hays Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be partnering with a leading UK-wide law firm in their search for an accounts/finance clerk to join the team in Norwich.

Your new role
In this Accounts Assistant / Ledger Clerk / Sales Ledger job, you will be part of a team who check the accuracy of raising sales invoices / billings to their wide range of business clients, as well as ensure prompt payment. Your daily duties will involve checking any open accounts (referred to as matters), monitoring WIP (working in progress), checking charge rates and ensuring the correct data is added to the sales invoices. As part of the wider finance team, you will analyse projected income / profit margin per case as well as monitor any estimates on more complex cases, as the company charges clients by action required and time. Any experience of working in another law firm or firm of chartered accountants who operate in a similar way, would be of interest, but this is not essential.

You will also assist at month-end close reporting on cash collected, outstanding fees due and projected figures based on the fee earners workload, which will require confidence in supporting these senior stakeholders. As a commercial business, they are keen to ensure they stay competitive in their market but are aware of discounts or negotiated terms which must be agreed to maximise their profit margins. Therefore, this role requires an individual who understands ledger processing, analysing data and collections.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have finance experience ranging from raising sales invoices, credit collections / account management, confident analytical skills, ideally from a law / legal background or experience of billing for services, similar to working at a firm of chartered accounts. It is expected you will be confident with Excel to review and analyse data as well as have clear communication skills as you will be supporting, advising and reporting to senior stakeholders.
