Our client is a well-established and growing SME with a collaborative culture and a strong focus on operational excellence. With a dedicated team and ambitious plans, they're now looking to appoint an Accounts Supervisor to support their finance function during an exciting phase of development.

About the Opportunity
This role offers a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Finance Assistant or Assistant Accountant who's ready to step up into a progressive role. Over time, this position has the potential to evolve into a Finance Manager, providing a clear and rewarding progression path.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead daily finance operations, including cashflow management, bank reconciliations, and posting journals
2. Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis and commentary
3. Manage the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
4. Oversee VAT returns, liaising with tax advisors and HMRC where necessary
5. Process payroll through an external provider and handle pension submissions
6. Supervise and mentor the Finance Assistant, reviewing their work and supporting their development
7. Prepare for annual audit, including drafting financial statements and assisting auditors
8. Liaise with internal teams on client finance queries, including credit control and billing
9. Review purchase invoices, process payment runs, and manage team expenses

About You
You'll be a hands-on finance professional with strong experience in transactional finance and supporting management accounts, ideally within an SME environment. Whether you're part-qualified (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or qualified by experience, you'll have the drive and ambition to step into a supervisory role. You'll be detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple deadlines, and confident communicating across the business.
