We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Acute Medicine Consultant to join a dynamic and well-established medical team in Derby, UK. This role offers an excellent opportunity to lead and enhance acute medical services while delivering high-quality patient care within the NHS.

As an Acute Medicine Consultant, you will play a crucial role in the management of acutely unwell patients, supporting the assessment and early treatment of a wide range of medical conditions. You will work closely with emergency and specialty teams to ensure efficient patient flow and optimal clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), ensuring timely and effective patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Provide high-quality care for acutely ill patients, working collaboratively with emergency medicine and specialty teams.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of acute care pathways and service improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise and support junior doctors, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals in the delivery of acute medical care.
  • Participate in ward rounds, acute take admissions, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Engage in clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement projects to enhance patient care.
  • Deliver teaching and training sessions for junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Acute Medicine or General Internal Medicine (or equivalent).
  • Extensive NHS experience in acute medicine.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
