DESCRIPTION
Amazon UK is seeking a Finance Manager to join our UK Amazon Logistics Finance team based in London. This role focuses on supporting our logistics business to drive performance and deliver packages to our customers by monitoring weekly and monthly performance and providing analysis to support the Amazon Logistics strategic, financial, and operational plans.
This is an exciting opportunity to be a key finance partner in a rapidly evolving business where this role plays a vital part in enhancing our customer experience. Our Finance Managers take a hands-on role to boost our business performance and efficiency. You'll collaborate with partners in different areas of our Logistics business to provide insights on improvements in our operational performance. That will involve partnering with key stakeholders, deep diving into data, managing our planning processes, and weekly/monthly reporting on our key metrics. This role will also support and challenge the business on generating initiatives to drive down costs whilst maintaining a fast delivery of packages to all UK customers. We operate within an EU team and an expectation to work collaboratively across our EU counterparts allows us to gain access to vital insights and standardise our work.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic, and multicultural environment. Above all, we seek an analytical problem solver with the ability to fulfill the Amazon motto to "Work Hard. Have Fun. Make History". This role is based in our Corporate London office 5 days a week.
Key job responsibilities
- Business partnering with key operational and finance teams to generate initiatives that help us save costs.
- Build and analyse financial models to drive business decisions and make judgement calls on challenges using your understanding of Amazon's cost structure.
- Deep dives into key trends/issues arising and challenge business partners on key operational and financial metrics.
- Lead projects by overseeing timelines, priorities, auditing quality, and resolving issues.
- Generate insights from financial data, identify opportunities for greater efficiency, and communicate findings with the leadership team to drive business actions.
- Own the financial and operational plan and financial reporting, creating scalable processes and monitoring these for accuracy.
- Continuous development and simplification of efficient reporting tools and processes to support decision-making.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, or business, or a Bachelor's degree and experience in a quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance).
- Experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.
- Experience in multiple finance and accounting roles.
- Experience in accounts receivable or accounts payable.
- Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses.
- Experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making.
- Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis.
- Experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA or CPA.
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL.
- Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause, and creating/implementing an escalation plan.
- Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits).
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results.
