Assistant Director Principal Social Worker Children's - (Starting Well) London Borough of Havering
Contract: Permanent
The London Borough of Havering is looking to recruit an Assistant Director Principal Social Worker Children's to contribute to the delivery of an effective children's social care service. The successful applicant will:
- Act as the borough's link with the social care workforce in Starting Well specifically children's social care.
- Act as the strategic lead and point of expertise for social care across the Starting Well directorate to improve the quality of practice for both qualified and non-qualified staff, including input to the design and delivery of services and lead the implementation of workforce plans/strategies.
- Responsibility for the statutory compliance and liaising with the Principal Social Worker Adults for the resourcing of the Safeguarding Partnership arrangements (the LSCP), including the quality assurance of practice across the social care services, dissemination of learning, developing safeguarding improvements, and response to serious incidents, including notification to Ofsted and the national panel as required.
- Acting as the single point of contact within LBH for Social Work England in respect of children's workforce.
Duties and responsibilities
- Work in partnership across adults and children's services with all other agencies raising the profile of social work and ensuring the unique role of social work is understood and valued.
- Develop, monitor and lead a rigorous quality assurance social care programme, to improve standards and disseminate learning.
- Embed a strength-based, systemic approach with practice leads and service managers.
- To lead practice that recognises the strengths of individuals and our communities, ensuring the person requiring support is at the centre of all decision-making.
- Responsible for liaising with the Principal Social Worker Adults to ensure that the Children's Safeguarding Board receives the support they need to function effectively including: providing multi-agency audits, effective communications, training on safeguarding of children and adults, and other training to support the social care workforce (both council corporate functions, external partners where appropriate and social care providers) in the delivery of their statutory duties.
- Ensure that Havering Local Safeguarding Children's Board, partner organisations and their staff are aware of local and national initiatives relating to or impacting on keeping adults at risk of harm and children and young people safe.
