The Automation/QE performs testing of complex features and contributes to automated testing. The role collaborates with other team members to construct test documentation and inform the team of continuous improvement opportunities for testing processes and automation framework. The role is expected to deliver tasks mostly independently. The role is based in our Edinburgh hub.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with developers to assess the testability of tasks and participate in feature and regression testing.
- Organize and maintain test documentation to keep the quality.
- Determine appropriate techniques for testing features based on best practices to ensure the proper quality of testing.
- Develop areas of expertise in small components and is recognized as an expert in those components and new automated tests in line with structure of existing tests, adds enhancements to the test framework/library when required under supervision.
- Execute automated tests and analyze the result and maintain test infrastructure to ensure operability.
- Assist developers with bug reproduction and root-cause analysis.
- Inform the team on continuous improvement opportunities to enhance testing processes.
- Test usability and suggest improvements for features and functionality.
What You'll Bring
- Good knowledge of the theory of testing and automation.
- Solid understanding of software quality control process and SDLC.
- Intermediate skill level in several test automation frameworks.
- Understanding of Web technologies: HTML, CSS, XML, JSON.
- Experience with the development of End to End and API automated tests and in writing code on the languages used for testing in the team, e.g. C#, ASP.NET, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, AngularJS, Java, Python, Groovy, Go.
- Experience with low-level HTTP debugging tools such as Wireshark, Fiddler, Charles Proxy, and DebugDiag.
- Experience with API testing and associated tools, working with relational Databases and SQL, with scripting (bash, etc.), and with advanced features of dev-tools in browser, with Source Control tools (Git), with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, with Docker and with Windows/macOS/Linux.
