Back End Software Engineer PHP

Mission

You will be part of the Optimy IT Engineering team ( 25 people) and will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of qualitative reliable software solutions by your team, raising our standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning. You collaborate with the Product team, to design, implement, and maintain robust systems that meet our business needs.

Responsibilities

• Coding sprint stories and achieve the minimum threshold of KPIs that are set for the team development velocity and roadmap accuracy
• Ensuring, within own team, the performance and code health of the existing codebase does not degrade
• Design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient PHP-based backend services and APIs
• Ensure code quality, performance, and maintainability by writing clean, well-documented, and testable PHP code
• Optimize existing systems for performance, reliability, and scalability across different environments
• Lead technical discussions and contribute to architecture and design decisions, ensuring long-term backend stability
• Maintain and improve database structures, including query optimization and data integrity
• Participate in code reviews and help uphold a strong culture of engineering excellence

About You

• You have a degree in computer science, a related field or an equivalent proven experience
• You are fine working with and improving legacy code.
• You have already professionally participated in projects built using PHP, Laravel, or equivalent.
• You are a developer at heart with deep knowledge of the PHP culture and ecosystem and a practical experience in leveraging Laravel as a development framework
• You enjoy mentoring and guiding others, and you strive to see them grow their knowledge and skills.
• You feel comfortable working with existing architecture, ensuring its maintenance and being a driving force for new ideas and improvements.
• You are proficient in code versioning control, branching strategies, and CI/CD practices.
• You are familiar with middleware technologies such as RDBMS and message brokers, among others.
