Job Description

The Urgent Treatment Centre at Chase Farm is a forward-thinking, dynamic, friendly environment offering a 7-day walk-in service for both minor injuries and minor illnesses.

As a Band 6 Junior Sister / Charge Nurse in our UTC, you will be part of an innovative expert multi-disciplinary team comprising of nurses, paramedics, EDAs, and GPs. You will work in a fast-paced environment with a broad variety of patient presentations and at times dealing with emergency and unexpected situations.

As a junior sister / charge nurse, you will be at the forefront of pioneering and innovative ways to deliver world-class care, in a state-of-the-art, modern hospital, using the latest technology.

Main duties of the job

As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will be required to support the senior and junior team in ensuring the needs of our patients are met through the delivery of high-quality care. The role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team including ACPs, ENPs, GPs, and EDAs. The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will work clinically as a triage nurse and support the nursing, Paramedic, and GP workforce. The post holder will be responsible for the initial triage of patients (adults and children) that present to the Urgent Treatment Centre.

Job responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

  • The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the specialty.
  • To be responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of direct patient care of adults and children.
  • To take the lead on delegated responsibilities as defined by the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
  • To support the Charge Nurse/Senior Sister to monitor the safety and quality of care for patients.
  • To manage a delegated group of Band 3 compliance of mandatory training and appraisal requirements.
  • To ensure a positive focused service incorporating patient feedback to maintain and improve patient care.
  • To act as an effective role model promoting excellence through practice.

  • Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values.
Education & professional Qualifications
  • Evidence of post-registration education/qualification relevant to specialty.
  • Recognised teaching or mentorship qualification or working towards.
  • First level degree in Nursing or working towards.
Experience
  • Significant post-registration experience of acute/emergency nursing.
  • Experience of triaging Adults and Children using the Manchester triage System tool.
  • Evidence of experience in conducting audits.
  • Evidence of skills in managing junior staff.
  • Experience in delivering evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the importance of audit/quality.
  • Children's Nursing course.
  • Working with Children.
  • Completed PGD and IRMER training.
  • Experience in wound care.

£42,939 to £50,697 a year per annum inclusive of HCAS.
