We are seeking talented, motivated and enthusiastic pharmacists to join the Pharmacy team at University Hospitals Birmingham and Aston University, teaching the next generation of pharmacists.
The role is split with 50% of the week spent working as a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist on the UHB Birmingham Heartlands Hospital site and the other 50% acting as Teacher Practitioner with Aston University, involved with teaching at the University and leading/coordinating undergraduate visits at the Trust.
The post holder will work closely with the other Specialist Clinical Pharmacists and the pharmacy operational team to ensure day-to-day provision of the clinical pharmacy service to wards/departments. They will deliver a high-quality specialist clinical pharmacy service to selected directorates and will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of clinical pharmacy services to specific clinical areas.
Main duties of the jobThe post will enable further development of your clinical leadership and educational skills. You will lead and deliver the provision of clinical pharmacy teaching and placements at Heartlands Hospital, and contribute to the delivery, development and assessment of university-based teaching for students on programmes within the Aston University School of Pharmacy, mainly relating to the Master of Pharmacy degree. You will be able to explore and engage with clinical and pedagogic research within your area of interest/expertise.

Person Specification Qualifications- Vocational Masters degree in pharmacy (or equivalent).
- Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Has completed a postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualification or equivalent advanced practice.
- Willing to work towards a non-medical prescribing qualification.
- Has completed a non-medical prescribing course and registered as an NMP with the GPhC.
- Working towards Level I Faculty Membership with the RPS.
- Possesses relevant clinical knowledge in complex clinical pharmacy settings.
- Previous participation in multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrates commitment and enthusiasm for providing high quality pharmaceutical care.
- Experience of teaching/presenting to other healthcare professionals/patients.
- Commitment to own Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Able to demonstrate a professional approach.
- Well-motivated and reliable.
- Able to work with all grades and staff roles.
- Able to work calmly under pressure.
- Able to travel across all Trust sites as required by job role.
