Bank Patient Safety Partner
Posted 17 hours 37 minutes ago by NHS
Do you have an interest in becoming involved in how we can develop our health and care services so that they are safer for our patients?
Are you or have you ever been a patient, carer or family member of someone who has used any health and care services?
At Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, we are expanding our initiative to involve the public in our work to improve our services and quality of care for our patients, their families and carers, and the public. We are seeking to recruit people as core members of the team who will consider our work from a public perspective and who will ask how our plans meet the needs of our patients.
Homerton's Patient Safety Partners (PSP) will be key members of the team bringing an essential third-party perspective to improvement and safety projects. Partners will draw on their experience and the training we will provide to make a meaningful difference to patient care. Their independence allows them to raise questions and see things differently, noticing things that may not be visible to professionals, adding richness to discussions about actions we are taking to improve our services. They will be required to offer a unique perspective to ensure that the interests and needs of patients are at the heart of any change.
Main duties of the jobThe purpose of this role will be to work with us to ensure we prioritise the safety requirements of our patients thereby maximising the things that go right and minimising the things that go wrong for people receiving our services. The Patient Safety Partner will:
- Attend relevant safety governance committees and meetings to support compliance monitoring, address safety issues, and provide appropriate challenge to ensure there is learning and change.
- Be involved in the development and implementation of relevant strategies and policies.
- Be involved in the design of safer healthcare at all levels in the organisation.
- Ensure the committees and groups consider and prioritise the service user, patient, carer, and family perspective and champion a diversity of views.
- Use their lived experience as a patient or a member of our local community to support and advise Homerton Healthcare on activities, policies, and procedures that will improve patient safety and increase quality care.
