The project:
A great opportunity for a technical expert with a background in advisory services to join our expanding strategy and investment team within Mace Consult. We set up clients for success to improve delivery confidence by bringing our global learning and expertise to inform the set up and mobilisation of projects and programmes.
Part of our advisory services centre of excellence, the strategy and investment team has a proven track record of successfully delivering a wide variety of work with both property and infrastructure clients across the globe.
We are seeking candidates with a broad and flexible technical skillset to complement our current team by offering strategy and investment expertise across a variety of sectors. You will be focused on service excellence, continuous improvement and product development.

We are flexible about your professional background but expect a strong specialism in at least two of the five cases; strategic, economic, commercial, financial and management and be able to take a lead role on assembling business cases at each stage of the process: strategic outline case, outline business case and full business case. It is likely that you will have a professional qualification or chartership in relation to these areas and/or post graduate level study. In addition to your technical skills, you may also have contacts across government and in industry.

As part of our advisory services centre of excellence you will be passionate about sharing your knowledge, upskilling colleagues and supporting the development of more junior staff.
Mace is committed to inclusion and these positions are available on a full and part time basis with agile working from home and our Manchester or Central London offices. Some domestic and international travel and relevant security clearances will be required.
You'll be responsible for:
- Collaborating the commission team to achieve outputs, taking a technical advisory role on commissions working across a single, less complex commission or contributing to a more complex commission
- Actively undertaking key technical elements of proposal development and commission delivery and integrating technical expertise with other capabilities to achieve milestones
- Developing and maintaining relationships and networks with the commission team and internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing sound technical options or solutions to client issues
- Supporting client relationship management activities related to a specific technical area
- Partnering in business development and work winning activities by sharing experience in technical skills to identify new opportunities
- Providing sound subject matter and technical expertise expert for one specialist technical field (e.g. planning, engineering, property management, investment, skills and workforce, energy)
- Analysing and utilises data and information from multiple sources to build technical options or solutions to client issues
- Delivering high quality reports and presentations, interpreting and translating technical data into accessible materials, aligned to industry best practice in fields of expertise.
- Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You'll need to have:
- Proven track record delivering HMT green book 5 case business plans.
- Proven track record developing investment cases and/or programme business cases across major programmes.
- Proven track record financial and/or economic modelling.
- Proven track record managing multiple complex stakeholders on major programmes.
- Proven track record ensuring excellence in client liaison and service, maintaining, and developing a professional relationship with key members within our clients' organisations.
- Proven track record providing appropriate skills and support to business development - developing new business opportunities and working to support a range of bid activities.
- In depth knowledge of one or more property and infrastructure sectors (e.g., aviation, rail, roads, healthcare, nuclear, utilities, energy transition).
You'll also have:
- Apply technical knowledge to emerging technology and processes.
- A desire to acquire a high level of capability in a specialist subject matter.
- Desire to apply skills across multiple sectors or global hubs.
