Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) is Santander's global division that supports some of the world's most complex and sophisticated corporate and institutional clients, offering customized services and value-added wholesale products to best meet their needs.

In this challenging, interim role, you'll be working with a team of risk professionals in the 1st Line of defence (1st LoD) executing and co-ordinating the Banking, Trading Controls and Conduct Risk Framework as well as the broader Business Controls support model for the branch.

You'll support the whole of the UK SCIB business and will collaborate with HQ and teams globally. You'll cover Non-Financial Risk Management and regulatory compliance within an Investment Banking business and across Markets and Banking Products.

If you've performed a similar role previously, this could be the perfect opportunity to develop your career at the heart of the action.

The difference you'll make:

  • Developing independent 1st LoD assurance and quality capability and implementing a continuous improvement agenda
  • Reinforcing 1st LoD risk management accountability and capability to evolve and improve risk mitigation activity
  • Understanding a pan-geographical narrative to manage and enhance market trading control activity from a conduct, operational and risk event management perspective
  • Overseeing, reviewing and executing ad hoc analytical requests, control deep dives and lessons learned
  • Building and maintaining matrixed relationships with global stakeholders and acting as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders and engaging with 2nd and 3rd LoD teams
  • Mentoring, developing and helping manage a set of independent but aligned risk capabilities within a central team

What you'll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing effective control frameworks across a range of business lines and risk typologies in an Investment Banking environment
  • Proven track record of designing, implementing and enhancing Trading Control frameworks
  • Significant Operational or Non-Financial Risk experience gleaned from an Investment Banking environment
  • Highly developed communication skills with the ability to tailor to different levels of the organisation and circumstance

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Excellent understanding of business risks across Banking and Markets products
  • Experience of managing and delivering large scale programs across complex, matrix managed organisations
  • Experience of simplification, automation or digitisation of tooling, processes and practices
  • Experience working in Front Line teams will be beneficial

What else you need to know:

This 9-month fixed-term contract is based at our offices in Triton Square, London located within easy walking distance from Warren Street and Euston.

We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 3 days a week (pro-rata for part-time roles).

If you apply for this role in this location, it's important you consider your travelling distance, time and cost from your home to the office location. We're happy to discuss specific working patterns and arrangements within this hybrid approach during the recruitment process.

If you're interested in this role but with part-time hours or a job-share, we would still love to hear from you and discuss these.
