Role Title: Business Design Analyst

Department: Technology

Location: London, Liverpool, or Glasgow

Contract Type: Permanent

Reporting to: Dev Shah / Swapna Shetty

The Role

A role with the ability to identify, define, design and deliver incremental change for a business function. A hybrid role responsible for bridging the gap between business needs and solutions (technical and process), ensuring that systems and processes meet high standards of quality and efficiency.

Outcomes of the Role

Summary:

Business Design: Close engagement with Business functions, documenting the business activities, processes and platforms. Analysing challenges and identifying areas for improvement.

  1. Requirement Gathering:
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, gather requirements, and document them in a clear and concise manner.
    • Conduct workshops, interviews, and surveys to elicit and analyse business requirements.
  2. Documentation:
    • Create detailed business requirements, use cases and other collateral as appropriate to aid in the capture and design of business functions.
    • Develop process flows, data models, and other diagrams to support business analysis activities.
  3. Stakeholder Management:
    • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, and third-party vendors.
    • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation to ensure alignment and clarity on project objectives.

Technical Design: Identifying and designing system and platform changes required to deliver the required business outcomes and value.

  1. Solution and Technical Design:
    • Ability to design and support deliver small technical and system configuration changes to deliver business requirements.
    • Work with the Business Design Specialist (Architecture) on the design and delivery of large scale technical change activity.
    • Assist in the creation of prototypes and proof of concepts to validate solutions.
  2. Ensure system and platform changes align with Technical Principles and Standards set by the group.

Testing and Quality Engineering: Ensuring quality is considered throughout, then proof testing the expected outcomes delivered from the change.

  1. Test Planning:
    • Develop appropriate test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on business and functional requirements.
    • Identify test objectives, and test phase scope.
  2. Test Execution:
    • Execute test cases, report defects, and track them to closure.
    • Perform regression testing to ensure existing functionalities are not affected by new changes.
  3. Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure that software solutions meet business needs and quality standards.
    • Participate in the review of design documents and provide feedback from a testing perspective, ensuring lessons learned are captured and feedback into the Design processes.
  4. Automation:
    • Identify opportunities for test automation and work with the automation team to implement automated testing tools and scripts.
Detailed Role Duties & Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Maintain open and effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the gathering and prioritization of business requirements from various stakeholders.
  • Engage stakeholders early and often to gather feedback and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to build trust and facilitate smooth project execution.

Process Improvement and Innovation:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Promote the use of emerging technologies and methodologies to drive innovation in business design and process automation.

Quality Assurance:

  • Enforce standards and best practices for business analysis, technical design and testing.
  • Ensure rigorous testing and validation of solutions to meet business requirements and regulatory standards.

Technical Design:

  • Ability to design and support deliver incremental technical system and platform configuration changes to deliver business requirements.
  • Work with the Business Design Specialist (Architecture) on the design and delivery of large scale technical change initiatives.
    • Co-ordinate implementation tasks where required.
    • Assist in ensuring industry best practice, compliance with Technology and Business Strategy, policies and standards across technology deliveries.

  • Driving innovation while maintaining stability and reliability in business processes and systems.
  • Use collaborative tools and platforms to facilitate communication and project management.

Agile Methodologies:

  • Embrace agile methodologies to enhance flexibility, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Attend and participate in regular stand-ups, retrospectives, and iterative planning sessions.
  • Identify, log, and own where appropriate risks and issues to delivery.
  • Embed a strong risk culture, where managing risk is simply part of how we work.
  • Ensure adherence to the risk management policy and procedures, including expected standards of internal control.

Other:

  • Contribute towards the continuing development of Group Technology, as well as the wider Group by establishing and participating in projects, committees and other activities as required from time to time, as directed by the Group Technology Director and/or Group COO.
  • Any other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Demonstrable detail-oriented, analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to influence, engage and collaborate with a diverse range of personalities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and articulate communication skills, including the ability to negotiate successful outcomes.

  • Significant experience in business analysis and/or test analysis, preferably in the financial services or wealth management sector.
  • Strong understanding of wealth management products, services, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in business analysis and testing tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile environments is a plus.
