Position: Catering Assistant
Location: Medway Green School, Rochester, Kent, ME1 3TS
Salary: £15,331.25 per annum (£12.50 per hour)
Hours: 27.5 hours per week, Monday -Friday
Contract: Permanent; term time only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join an amazing team at Medway Green School in Rochester, Kent.
About the role
To help prepare a freshly cooked and nutritious selection of meals to the students and staff, ensuring a clean and hygienic working area which is compliant with Food Safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in food preparation
- Assisting in cooking the food
- Assisting in serving the food to the students
- Cleaning both the kitchen, and the hall
- Pot washing when required (use of a dishwasher)
- Ensure the kitchen is compliant with all Food Hygiene and Health and Safety Legislation
- Ensure Kitchen is cleaned in line with Food and Hygiene requirements, including equipment, floors, walls
- Assisting in the quality control of food, ensuring quality and presentation at service point
Essential:
- Good standard of education
- NVQ Level 2 - Food Preparation (highly desirable)
- Food and Hygiene Certificate level 2 (highly desirable)
- Some experience of working in a similar role would be beneficial
- Experience of producing home cooked food

Medway Green School is a special needs provision that provides for students whose SEMH/SEN needs have resulted in placement breakdown at their mainstream schools. We provide a nurturing and welcoming environment to SEMH students in Key stages 2-4, however within the next 2 years the provision will move to Key stages 3-4 only. Students will experience a personalised curriculum based on previous learning and identified needs. With a keen focus on therapy, education and personal development the school aims to help young pupils grow academically, socially and emotionally to enable them to achieve success as they progress through life.
Opened in 2019, Medway Green School presently provides education to 67 students, with a capacity of 70 students. We have welcomed our first KS4 cohort this year and have been excited to introduce subject specialists to our school, providing a secondary model of learning.
