ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a visionary and entrepreneurial CFO (m/f/d) to lead the financial strategy and operations of our rapidly scaling UK subsidiary, Pliant Payments Ltd. (Pliant UK). This role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the financial future of a high-growth fintech, establishing the UK as a strategic growth driver within the Pliant Group.
As CFO of Pliant UK, you'll hold a mission-critical position, overseeing all aspects of financial management and engaging directly with the FCA to ensure robust regulatory compliance and governance. Reporting to the Group CFO, you will independently own the UK financial function, driving strategic initiatives that accelerate our ambitious expansion and growth trajectory.
This is a highly visible leadership role, where you'll be empowered to make a tangible impact - transforming ideas into results, building world-class processes, and collaborating with some of the brightest minds in fintech.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own & Shape the Future: Independently manage and strategically oversee all aspects of finance operations-including accounting, auditing, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and integration with Group/GmbH-laying the financial groundwork for Pliant's ambitious growth plans.
- Drive Strategic Impact: Lead significant financial projects and provide high-impact analyses that directly influence strategic decisions, both within the UK and across the broader Group, becoming a trusted strategic partner to senior leadership.
- Build Key Relationships: Lead and grow relationships with external stakeholders including lenders, advisors, auditors, and legal partners. Effectively manage and optimize existing debt funding arrangements, and proactively identify and execute new funding opportunities to fuel our growth.
- Regulatory Leadership: Act as the key liaison with the FCA, proactively managing regulatory compliance and governance to position Pliant UK as a leader in fintech best practices.
- Lead Financing Initiatives: Support and lead structuring, negotiation, and management of equity and debt financings, specifically related to business operations and receivables financing, ensuring optimal liquidity and cost-effective capital access to support Pliant's ambitious growth and expansion objectives.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Develop and mentor finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence, while directly contributing to building an exceptional finance organization.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Proven CFO or senior financial leadership experience in high-growth financial services, ideally within credit cards, lending, payments, or closely related fintech environments.
- Deep experience in FP&A, accounting, audit management, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, with a track record of building scalable financial functions.
- Extensive expertise managing debt funding initiatives, including raising new financing, leading external advisor relationships, and proactively engaging counterparties.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills, combined with a pragmatic, hands-on approach. You're able to distill complex financial concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.
- A passion for fintech innovation, curiosity, and entrepreneurial spirit, enabling you to drive and independently execute strategic initiatives in dynamic, rapidly scaling environments.
- A strong background in consulting, investment banking is highly desirable.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive salary, compelling performance-based incentives, and meaningful equity potential
- Join an innovative and rapidly expanding international fintech backed by top-tier investors, positioned for significant growth
- Exceptional career growth and professional development opportunities, including high visibility with senior executives and board-level stakeholders
- Hybrid working model with flexibility for remote work, plus auto-enrolment into our workplace pension with enhanced employer contributions
- Opportunity to shape and drive financial strategy in a key market within a highly collaborative, international environment
