Job Description

A high achieving and supportive secondary school in Haringey is looking for a Chemistry Coach to start in September 2025. As a Chemistry Coach, you will be supporting and uplifting students studying A-level Chemistry, preparing them for both their exams and their future. This Chemistry Coach position is a great opportunity for a future teacher, as there is the opportunity to train to teach in your second year. This role would suit an academic Chemistry graduate looking to gain experience with bright young people.

The school works hard to minimise the disparities some students may face, and to provide them with relevant opportunities and guidance to offset this. They strongly believe that when their students are properly supported, they will thrive. As a coach, you will work on a 1-1 and small group basis with A-level students to improve their subject knowledge. You will also hold interventions and focus groups for students who could benefit from increased support, as well as tailor your teaching style to individual students' needs. Working closely with students to help them develop revision techniques and preparing them for university applications is another part of the role.

Experience with children is appreciated but isn't necessary. There will also be a well-structured training program, and you will be strongly supported by the school throughout your time with them. The most important qualities are good subject knowledge and an interest in teaching.

This is a permanent contract with the school, who offer a competitive salary and several attractive benefits. The position starts in September 2025, and the school is keen to interview immediately.

What we look for:
  1. An undergraduate degree in Chemistry or a very closely related discipline
  2. A-level (or equivalent) in Mathematics/Further Maths
  3. An interest in teaching or working with young people
  4. Strong knowledge of the Chemistry A-level curriculum
  5. The ability to empathise and build a rapport with young people
  6. An enhanced DBS on the OUS (or be willing to get one)
What is on offer:
  1. An opportunity to work in a supportive and welcoming environment
  2. Teaching sixth form students who are academically gifted and want to be there
  3. Support and training throughout your time with the school
  4. An opportunity to join a competitive teacher training scheme
  5. A competitive salary and benefits package
  6. Support throughout the process, from initial interview to starting the position
