New Primary School

This primary school is an Ofsted-rated Outstanding Residential Special Educational Needs School. They care for children aged between 5 and 11 years who have a range of complex needs associated with SEMH. This school prides itself on providing a warm, homely and happy environment for all. There also may be a possibility to provide the successful candidate with accommodation on site.

Main responsibilities

•To have a commitment to work within a structured therapeutic environment and to be active in the observation of behaviours, planning and implementation of individual management programmes and in monitoring, evaluating and revising as appropriate on a regular basis. This is to involve close liaison with all staff working within the school.
•To work within guidelines for the 24-hour behaviour management programme, as set out in the school's policy.
•To facilitate the reintegration of pupils into the appropriate environment. This will be for social and academic development and may involve short or long-term programmes, or both. This will require close contact with home and schools as appropriate.
•To demonstrate a commitment to the development of the school. This will include participation in and to staff in-service training, formal and informal discussions with staff, the need to work as an equal part of the whole group and an ability to offer innovative ideas and present them to the group.
•To demonstrate a commitment to develop as a professional. This will involve career planning and participation in in-service training in school, in the county or out of the county as appropriate. This includes specific training in the use of Transactional Analysis.

What you will need to succeed

•QTS (or equivalent) and an undergraduate degree
•Successful experience of teaching the Primary curriculum (mainly SEN related)
•The right to work in the UK
•You must hold a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for a DBS through Hays

Desirable:
•Experience facilitating circle times, nurture groups and / or forest schools
•Experience of engaging in reflective practice
•Knowledge of attachment theory and its application to practice in an educational setting
