This is a fixed term position of 12 months.
The shift pattern for this position is 5/7 Mon-Sun.
This post is to provide 12 month fixed term Maternity Cover. The post holder will join a team of dedicated embryologists and under supervision of the Consultant Clinical Embryologist is responsible for providing a high quality embryology and andrology service for the assessment and treatment of infertility including: in vitro fertilisation (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), and other micromanipulation techniques, embryo biopsy for preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), gamete donation, sperm cryopreservation & surgical sperm retrieval, all within the regulations defined by the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority. The Clinical Embryologist has a role in supervision and training of junior embryologists and in assisting the Consultant Embryologist and Lead Clinical Embryologist in developing laboratory policies and maintaining high standards through regular review of Standard Operational Procedures. The post holder will participate in weekend and out of hours on call.
The ACS has undergone major refurbishment of laboratory facilities, outpatients and clinical treatment suite. The facilities provide state of the art equipment and a comprehensive range of clinical techniques, offering a high standard of treatment tailored to suit individual patient needs. The ACS Scientific Service delivers approximately 1000 cycles of IVF/ICSI, 600 frozen embryo transfers and 300 IUIs with both partner's and donor sperm annually. The Unit obtained an HFEA licence for clinical PGT in 2001 and was awarded National Service Division funding to provide a Scotland wide PGT service in April 2005. The ACS delivers approximately 75 cycles of PGT annually.
Minimum Requirements: MSc level qualification in a relevant discipline, post graduate qualification in Clinical Embryology and registration with Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Scientists are essential for this post.
