As a Clinical Laboratory Assistant, you are responsible for sample preparation, sample testing, and post analytical tasks such as sample storage and disposal, and maintenance procedures. Status : Full Time, Contract (18 months) Shift: Day Shift, various hours between 6:00 am - 4:00 pm. - Ensures that all samples are properly labeled and identified before testing.
- Follows established protocol for the handling of unsuitable samples.
- Operates complex instruments following department procedures.
- Performs simple non-interpretive testing procedures under the supervision of a qualified technologist.
- Ensures all inquiries and problems are handled in a courteous and professional manner.
- Performs routine equipment maintenance following documented procedures.
- Documents all maintenance performed, including minor troubleshooting following manufacturer's instructions.
- Ensures all quality control checks and standards are maintained
- Other duties as assigned
- Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent previous experience
- Graduate of an approved laboratory assistant course or equivalent
- Excellent computer skills
- Knowledge of AS400 Data Entry system/LIS an asset
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team centered environment.
