Job overview

Working closely with the Care Group and other clinical leads, the post holder takes the Lead for all aspects of Diabetes and Endocrinology to support the delivery of the clinical and operational aspects of the Trust's strategy and the NHS Operating Framework.

As the Clinical Lead for the service, the post holder will be jointly responsible for ensuring that the service operates fully within the overall objectives and policies of the Trust and within objectives, targets, quality standards and financial controls, and to support the achievement of the WHH care group level objectives.

Main duties of the job

The clinical lead will work together with the William Harvey Care Group and their Network Leads in providing leadership and management, and will have shared responsibility for the operational performance, clinical quality, safety and financial management of the service. They will be responsible for ensuring a positive patient and staff experience, backed up by a robust governance process for leading and continuously improving services.

Person specification Qualifications and training
  • MRCP
  • Full GMC Registration
  • CCT Specialist Registration or will obtain within 6 months of interview date
  • Minimum of English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), ILETS, or graduate of a UK Medical School
  • Specialty Specific qualifications
  • Enhanced Appraisal Training
Skills and experience
  • Experience in Endocrinology, diabetes and general medicine
  • Highly effective leadership skills
  • Interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Clinical leadership experience in Acute NHS Trust
Clinical governance
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical audit
  • Research and Development and Evidence based practice
  • Commitment to implementation and strengthening of clinical governance

  • RCA, Sis, SJR
  • Thorough knowledge of the structure, functions, culture and values of the National Health Service and its inter relationship with other agencies
