The Hospital

Lake Macquarie Private Hospital, owned and operated by Ramsay Health Care, is a 187-bed acute Advanced Surgical and Medical Hospital situated on the Pacific Highway at Gateshead, fifteen kms south of the Newcastle CBD.

Specialties include Oncology, Haematology, Palliative care, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, General Surgery (including Colorectal), Robotics, Breast Surgery, Plastics, Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Vascular and Oncology.

Lake Macquarie Private Hospital is renowned for a comprehensive Cardiac program, Emergency services, Intensive Care, Clinical Trials, and a comprehensive Surgical program. We are undergoing a major development to increase our current services and expand upon our Oncology service. We have just commissioned a brand new, state of the art Hub and Spoke CSSD and added another two operating theatres.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator or Clinical Nurse with experience in Infection Prevention and Control to step into the role at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital.

Reporting to the Clinical Quality and Risk Manager, the successful applicant is responsible for innovating and setting the direction for the Infection Prevention and Control programs ensuring safety and quality for all patients and staff.

About You

You will have a strong commitment to customer service, display professional communication and interpersonal skills and also meet the following essential criteria:

• Current AHPRA registration as Registered Nurse
• Previous experience within Infection Control or an active desire to further enhance and develop Infection Control skills.
• Demonstrated high level critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to successfully work as a team member and independently when required.
• Demonstrate ability to work as a motivated, enthusiastic, and positive role model for all clinical and non-clinical disciplines and services within the hospital environment.
• Excellent work ethic and time management skills
• Accepts responsibility to implement and maintain Infection Control programs ensuring safety and quality within the facility, in conjunction with the Clinical Quality and Risk Manager.
• Support developmental growth of Link Nurses in Infection Control roles.
• Possess or obtain a Hand Hygiene Auditor Certificate.
• Excellent computer skills using the MS office suite of programs.

Remuneration: On offer is base hourly rate ranging from $36.65 - $53.56 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.
