Job overviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic midwife or neonatal nurse with an interest in clinical research to join the Women's Health Research Team at UCLH. The successful candidate(s) will play a key role in supporting an NIHR-funded study aimed at revolutionising the way neonatal jaundice is measured using an innovative app developed as a tool for jaundice screening.
The role involves undertaking research to validate the smartphone app (neoSCB), which measures jaundice by capturing images of a baby's eye. The study aims to bring the app to a stage where we can apply for its approval to be used as a routine screening tool in clinical practice. The position is fixed term funded until December 2025, with the potential for an extension if study milestones are met.
The postholder will ensure that all research activities prioritise participant wellbeing and comply with Good Clinical Practice and clinical governance standards.

Main duties of the jobThe postholder will ensure that all research prioritises the wellbeing of participants and adheres strictly to Good Clinical Practice and clinical governance regulations. While prior research experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory, as comprehensive training will be provided by our team leads and study sponsors.

Person specification Knowledge and Qualifications- Registered Neonatal nurse or Midwife with evidence of continuing professional development.
- First degree or working towards a degree.
- Evidence of ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP) qualification or awareness of it
- Knowledge of the role of a Research Nurse or Midwife
- Knowledge of Research Governance Framework
- Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice
- Understanding of professional and current issues in midwifery, neonatal and in clinical research
- Knowledge of current WHR studies running within UCLH
- Understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues
- Midwifery, neonatal or paediatric experience
- 2 years post registration and clinical NHS experience
- Evidence of working as a Nurse/Midwife within an NHS Women's Health clinical area
- Exposure to research delivery within their clinical setting.
- Evidence of research delivery experience
- Demonstrate clinical ability to provide high quality patient care
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Proven ability to work under own initiative and manage own workload.
- High level of administrative skills and computer literacy to include use of Microsoft Office suite.
- Curiosity and detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
