Location: London Broadcasting House. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.
Salary: £29,000-£31,000 pa (plus London Weighting if London based £5,319pa), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.
THE ROLEThis role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend Programme for disabled people. Job PurposeWe are looking for a Commercial Rights and Business Affairs Assistant to join the BBC Commercial, Rights and Business Affairs (CRBA) team. This is a permanent position.
CRBA manages and connects the BBC's Intellectual Property, strategic and business interests through expert negotiation, contracting and commercial deal-making. It is comprised of multiple business teams: Production, Events & Talent; Commissioning; Distribution & Business Development; Commercial Development & Partnerships; BRBA News; CRBA News; Rights, Frameworks & Blankets.
This post is to support the BBC's responsibility to report music use on its platforms to the music collecting societies under the terms of blanket licences. Responsibilities will include supporting content producers to supply music reporting data via various technology platforms to the BBC's own Music Reporting System; analysing and cleansing data where necessary; running routine reporting for the team and other stakeholders; assist the Music Reporting Executive in testing improvements to the Music Reporting System and associated software.
Key Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesAs a CRBA Assistant, you will be integral to the day-to-day output of commissioning activity across all BBC Public Service Platforms. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of experts in rights, commercial, strategy, policy as well as legal professionals to provide accurate, timely, practical and commercially-focused legal, rights and business affairs support. Your role will primarily focus on providing business affairs support for content commissioning.
Additionally, the successful candidate will be:
- Responsible for an allocation of TV Channels and Audio services to enable reporting of music use to the music collecting societies.
- A contact point with audio and audio visual producers/channels/radio stations to manage music reporting data.
- Assist the Music Reporting Executive in testing new improvements to Music Reporting software.
To be successful in this role the following skills, knowledge and experience are essential:
- Familiarity with BBC output across all platforms.
- Good interpersonal skills and experience of developing good working relationships.
- Excellent IT skills with experience of databases and administration systems.
- Excellent organisation, coordination and time management skills.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to examine and summarise complex data.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrable ability to analyse and review business information effectively to extract insights.
- A good understanding of Business Affairs for the television, radio and digital media industry and related BBC policy and strategy.
- An approach that encompasses proactivity, flexibility, resilience, passion and energy.
