Salary: $17.20 per hour, 35 hours/week

POSITION SUMMARYReporting to the Director of Philanthropy (DoP), the Communication Officer provides support to the Philanthropy team in a variety of capacities, with a focus on communications and marketing.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist with the preparation of content for electronic communications to stakeholders such as e-newsletters, event listings, news articles for website, social media posts and other communication elements
- Assist to develop email marketing campaigns that align with brand guidelines
- Work with the Communications Specialist to manage and develop a social media calendar, including drafting and scheduling content, preparing graphics and tracking campaigns. Create and curate engaging social media content to foster positive relations with the online community
- Monitor social media channels for trends, opportunities, and conversations relevant to our brand
- Support the development team with communications tasks as needed, including data entry, proof reading, file formatting, etc.
- This grant is funded by Canada Summer Jobs and therefore requires that the successful applicant be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Social media coordination experience and proficiency with online media applications such as Facebook & Instagram
- Exceptional writing and organizational skills
- Ability to see both the big picture perspective and pay scrupulous attention to details
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, multi-task and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated professionalism and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality
