We are looking to welcome Consultants in Elderly Medicine to join our friendly, dynamic and enthusiastic team of Geriatricians based at York Hospital. We are expanding services and recruiting for a retirement.
The directorate of Older People's Health encompasses a number of specialist services, including a Frailty Assessment and frailty SDEC unit, dedicated Acute Care and Short Stay Facilities, Specialist Hip Fracture and Orthopaedic Liaison, Hyper-Acute Care and Stroke Rehabilitation Services, Parkinson's Care and a dedicated Dementia and Delirium Unit. We also provide clinical input into two of our local community hospitals providing rehabilitation.
The posts are offered as 10 programmed activities (PAs) over four days and currently include an on-call commitment of 1 in 12 for elderly medicine. We are open to discuss any specific or specialised job plans that candidates may desire, including flexible/less than full time working. Person Specification Qualifications- Hold a medical qualification registered with the GMC.
- Hold a license to practise with the General Medical Council.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Geriatrics via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) - CESR or - European Community Rights (Within 6 months of completing a training programme recognised for the award of CCT or equivalent).
- MD or equivalent Higher Degree or evidence of relevant research.
- Experience of teaching lay groups and paramedical staff.
- Experience of teaching undergraduate and post graduate trainees.
- Experience of undertaking audits and presenting their findings.
- Experience of supervising Specialist trainees.
- Ability to demonstrate clinical experience and skill in the specialty.
- Demonstrates a sound knowledge of clinical governance practice.
- Experience of working in or setting up a clinical service.
