Consultant Haematologist with Interest in Malignant Haematology

As part of our commitment to patients and delivery of a world-class service, we have created the UHCW Improvement (UHCWi) System in partnership with the Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle. This involves a structured approach to removing waste and putting the patient first using lean management system and methodologies. You are expected to attend and complete relevant training and development opportunities to support this. Full attendance and completion of identified courses is considered essential and a prerequisite for this post.
The post holder will share leadership of services for patients with malignant haematological disorders and development of these services.

As part of the consortium of 12-13 consultants working at three Trusts, the post holder will participate in the countywide on-call rota, providing advice to all Acute and Community services in Coventry and Warwickshire, covering intensive inpatient work and taking a share of overnight on call.
Main duties of the job- Be responsible for the care of their own inpatients on Ward 34 at UHCW, attending the weekly joint ward round and making at least one other visit to the ward each week.
- Provide continuing responsibility for patients in their charge and work in partnership with colleagues for the proper function of the department.
- Participate in the overnight on-call rotas on an equal basis with consultant colleagues (approximately 2 in 12) to ensure appropriate emergency services are provided out of normal working hours across the county.
- Participate in the COW rota (approximately 1 in 8) and county-wide on-call rota (approximately 1 in 13).
