Job overviewApplications are invited for the post of Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics at North Manchester General Hospital (with special interest in foot and ankle surgery). The post holder will be part of a dynamic and innovative team of surgeons.
Candidates must be eligible for their own GMC registration:an active license, ceased license or pending application with the GMC at the point of application. Candidates who do not fit this criteria will not progress through to the shortlisting stage.
Main duties of the jobThis new consultant will join a team of T&O consultants providing trauma and elective services. This is an appointment to the Managed Single Service for Trauma and Orthopaedics and cross site working will be expected, although the role will have a focus working at North Manchester General.
- The successful candidate will above all be a productive and cohesive member of the Foot & Ankle team able to provide ongoing patient care.
- The post will include delivery of comprehensive foot and ankle service including elective day case and inpatient surgery and treatment of routine and complex foot and ankle trauma.
- Have an out of hours commitment to trauma patient management as part of an on-call rota covering general trauma.
- Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.
- Undertaking ward rounds as appropriate.
- Providing evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Contributing to undergraduate, post-graduate and continuing medical and multi professional education activity including teaching as necessary.
- Participation in clinical audit and research.
- Conducting appropriate duties in cases of emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
- Development of special interests that fit in with the Directorate needs and the strategic direction of the Trust.

Person specification Qualifications- Entry on the Specialist Register
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Trauma & Orthopaedics
