Consultant Paediatrician with special interest in Diabetes

We are expanding our diabetes team and seek one Paediatrician with an interest in diabetes. The post holder will be part of the diabetes multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Neemisha Jain. We provide an excellent diabetes service which meets best practice guidance for 0-19 year olds and had a very successful peer review in 2014. We regularly participate in self-assessments to meet quality standards. We were finalists at the BMJ Awards under the 'Diabetes Team of the Year' category in 2016 and continue to strive to provide high-quality care for the children and young people with diabetes under our care. We provide a well-developed transitional care service and an insulin pump service.

The post holder will be part of the consultant body and multidisciplinary team, covering our inpatient unit, child assessment unit, neonatal unit, as well as paediatric outpatient.

We have a separate consultant covering "Consultant of the week" duties on the General Paediatrics ward, the Neonatal unit, and the Child Assessment Unit. We also have a resident consultant covering the Child Assessment Unit from 5 pm until 10 pm on weekdays and 1 pm to 10 pm on weekends. We have worked towards the implementation of the RCPCH Face the Future standards of 24/7 consultant cover including a resident consultant on night shifts, which this post holder does not have to contribute to.
