Job Description

Triple West Medical have been appointed by an NHS Trust based in the East Midlands to help recruit a Consultant Rheumatologist for a substantive post, but may also consider a Locum Consultant for 12 months min.

The Trust is one of the largest employers in the area and are on an exciting journey. With over 12,000 staff, you will be joining a friendly and supportive Rheumatology Department which provides comprehensive Rheumatology services across the region.

There is a well thought of undergraduate and postgraduate training programme with plenty of opportunity to get involved in teaching. The Rheumatology department has Specialised Commissioning status and has well established MDTs with various teams within the Trust such as respiratory medicine and renal medicine. Consultants are encouraged to develop specialist interests.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Post:

  1. Provision with Consultant colleagues of a comprehensive Rheumatology service to Hospital and surrounding areas, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis & treatment of illness, & the proper functioning of the department.
  2. Responsibility for the continuing care & treatment of patients in your charge & personal performance of clinical duties as agreed in your job plan, allowing for all proper delegation to, & training of your staff.
  3. Provision of cover for your consultant colleagues during reasonable periods of leave, including care of patients & supervision of junior doctors.
  4. Any responsibility which relates to a special interest.
  5. Responsibility for the professional supervision & management of junior medical staff, carrying out teaching, examination & accreditation duties as required & for contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate & continuing medical education activity, locally & nationally as appropriate.
  6. Participation in the clinical governance arrangements of the Trust & specifically within the Business Unit including clinical audit & research.
  7. Responsibility for implementing the Infection Control Policies as determined by NHS Trust.
  8. Responsible for compliance with personal continuing medical education requirements with the support of the Trust.

Our client is happy to issue Certificates of Sponsorship to suitably qualified overseas doctors; however, GMC registration and relevant experience is essential for this position.
