The BBC SO is looking for a dynamic and engaged Content Assistant, working as Orchestra and Tours Assistant to provide business support to the Concerts Management Team and Tours Manager.
The role will also work closely with the musicians, particularly during recruitment campaigns and tour preparations. It is a key position within the team with plenty of scope for personal and professional development and progression.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Orchestra Personnel Manager, the main responsibilities of this role are:
- To manage the payment process for freelance musicians employed by the Orchestra.
- To co-ordinate the process for the recruitment of staff players.
- To assist the Tours Manager with the preparation of domestic and overseas tours. This might occasionally involve travel abroad with the Orchestra.
- To provide business support to the Orchestra Manager and the Orchestra Personnel Manager.
- To provide support and IT assistance as required to the BBCSO players.
- To provide the main point of contact for and to assist with the management of the BBC SO / RCM Pathway Scheme.
- Excellent Administrative and IT skills including a familiarity with Microsoft Office Packages, especially Excel.
- A practical working knowledge of orchestral music and the components of an orchestra.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Resilience, ability to prioritize and to work under pressure, self-motivating and responding to deadlines.
- Willingness to work flexibly and the ability to develop positive working relationships with a broad range of people.
- An understanding of handling sensitive data and keeping information confidential where needed.
- A strong desire to work in orchestral management and to take an active role in the work of the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
