Job Description

We are looking for a driven, dedicated, and experienced Contracts Manager to join our team and oversee our projects.

You will be critical in managing Demolition Contracts, ensuring they meet our highest internal SHEQ standards and strictly comply with all relevant safety regulations and other compliance obligations to which the business subscribes.

As a key member of the operational team, you will manage all aspects of our contracts from the enquiry stage to overall completion. You will lead, support, and coach the operational teams and promote governance to enable them to successfully deliver the maximum profit and deliver projects and services to agreed-upon cost, time, quality, and safety standards. The role involves liaising with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, supervising and training staff, preparing and monitoring budgets, and resolving any issues that may arise during the contract's lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement: Meet with clients to understand their needs, assist in preparing estimates, and present tender documents. Contribute to work planning and gathering information for invoicing and dispute resolution.
  • Project Strategy: Develop and approve strategies to ensure timely and profitable project delivery. Monitor progress and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Team Leadership: Energise and support the team, ensuring they are focused and aware of requirements. Intervene and take corrective actions when necessary. Delegate work appropriately and fairly.
  • Safety Culture: Promote a safety culture to ensure the health, safety and well-being of all site workers and visitors.
  • RAMS: Ensure risk assessments and method statements are prepared and implemented.
  • Compliance: Manage projects in line with compliance obligations and best practices. Ensure compliance with the Company Management System and that work is completed to the highest quality.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Project Management: Proactively deliver projects, exceeding stakeholder expectations where possible. Ensure projects are closed out according to contractual requirements and provide aftercare support to minimise defects and secure repeat business.
  • Commercial Management: In collaboration with the commercial team, ensure that all commercial activities are managed effectively to maximise margins. Ensure that planning, cost and financial controls are established to provide accurate, up-to-date information and control.
  • Relationship Management: Develop and maintain proactive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and key supply chain partners.
  • Programme: Agree on project programmes, ensuring they meet all requirements. Monitor and adjust as necessary. Identify and coordinate resources for safe and efficient task completion.
  • Business Development: Engage with Business Development and Estimating Teams to support tender opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum of five years of experience managing a wide variety of Demolition Projects.
  • CCDO Demolition Management Black Card and all relevant Industry Training.
  • Asbestos Management and Removal experience and hold Asbestos Contracts Manager certification.
  • A full clean Driving Licence is essential.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively at all times, be approachable and professional.
  • Act as a Role Model, demonstrate an interest in others and build team spirit. Act as a coach/mentor, especially to junior employees.
  • Assist in team development and training.

  • Strong Leadership skills to manage, provide direction, set standards of behaviour and motivate teams.
  • Proficient in IT with good knowledge of Office 365 and SharePoint.
  • Excellent organisation, communication, problem-solving and time management skills.

  • Work well with others, accept criticism well and work well under pressure.
