Deputy Divisional Director of Operations

Reporting to the Divisional Director of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in driving the performance and strategic direction of our Division. Main Duties of the Job:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee the operational performance of a large, complex Division, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, clinical governance, patient safety, and clinical quality.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Divisional Director of Operations to shape and implement the Trust's corporate objectives and develop the divisional strategy.
  • Business Planning: Lead business planning and cost improvement initiatives to achieve financial targets and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Project Management: Provide senior project support and expertise in estates management to drive capital projects and service improvements.
  • Governance and Compliance: Ensure robust corporate governance arrangements are in place, aligning with Trust requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Directorate General Managers and the Divisional management team to drive divisional-wide programmes and service direction.
  • External Engagement: Represent the Trust at senior levels within the NHS and community, fostering integrated working with CCGs, local authorities, and partner organisations.

Person Specification: Education/Qualifications: Essential:
  • First degree or equivalent
  • Evidence of other specialist knowledge masters level or above
  • Extensive knowledge of the NHS in the acute sector with up to date knowledge of medical/surgical services
  • Evidence of CPD
Experience: Essential:
  • Significant experience within the Healthcare sector at senior manager level including responsibility for strategic planning and budgetary control for a group of complex medical/surgical specialities
  • Demonstrable success in delivering large scale change and performance with and through management and clinical teams
  • Track record of financial delivery including EBITDA target ratio, efficiency savings, income and expenditure targets
  • Well-developed IT skills to manage and report on complex performance management information
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Essential:
  • Highly developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve staff to meet challenging targets including individuals and teams in partnership organisations
  • Able to develop effective networks, and to work in partnership with others to deliver and improve services
  • Ability to influence and motivate staff to deliver challenging targets
