The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) is a leading centre for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. The NHNN currently has an exciting job opportunity. We are looking to recruit highly skilled and experienced nurses to take the Neuro Rehabilitation Unit (NRU) forward to offer a world-class Nursing service in Rehabilitation.

The NHNN and the Rehabilitation and Therapies department provide comprehensive health care and rehabilitation service for a diverse community. It is a major London teaching hospital and is at the forefront of academic research and Nursing excellence.

The NRU is a multidisciplinary team (MDT) environment and experience in MDT working is essential for this post. We are a specialist Rehabilitation unit offering adult neurological rehabilitation for patients with complex and specific neurological conditions. With relevant post-registration experience in an acute and rehab field and the ability to demonstrate an understanding of delivering a Neurological Rehabilitation Nursing service; Your role will also ensure that patients are actively progressing through their clinical pathway and monitoring the constant clinical development of the Nursing team.

Main duties of the job

The key responsibility of the post holder will be ensuring individual Nursing and Team development. This opportunity will allow you to exercise your Clinical skills, Leadership experience and expert knowledge in Rehabilitation Nursing. Your ability will enable you to prepare coordinate and deliver an education process that will work toward raising the nursing profile.

You will need excellent communication skills and demonstrate strong leadership qualities and clinical skills. You will need to have good administrative awareness to ensure that patients and the teams at the NHNN and at referring organisations are kept informed, which will require you to keep calm under pressure. The post presents an opportunity to implement changes to the service that will yield benefits to both patients and the Division.

Person specification Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register
  • Teaching course
  • Relevant clinical course
  • BSc or working towards
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years' relevant clinical experience at Band 6 level
Communication
  • Communicates effectively verbally, in writing and in electronic formats
