Design Manager - MEP

Our Client is a well known and highly respected independent M&E Design and Build Contractor, located on the outskirts of Leeds.

Originally founded in Manchester in the 70's, our client has been operating at the pinnacle of UK construction consulting engineering for over 50 years.

With teams of experts servicing Building Services, Civil & Structural, Geoenvironmental, Transport Planning, Energy and Sustainability, the business operates from 9 strategically placed offices facilitating a local presence to live projects.

Our Client is an industrial engineering company which manufactures, installs and connects heating and cooling assets to energy systems across the built environment.

Trading successfully for over 30 years, the business has long been associated with the leisure, retail and industrial sectors in particular, providing full mechanical and electrical building services design and installation services for projects nationwide.

The demand for MEP design and preconstruction services grows year on year, currently resourced through a combination of inhouse expertise and outsourced partners. With the long term ambition to deliver more design projects internally and further reduce the need to outsource, the business is keen to secure the services of an energetic MEP Design Manager to oversee the flow of information and work closely with the operations team to deliver live projects to time and cost.

The appointed Engineer will have a strong building services design background, ideally gained within a commercially focused M&E Contractor; however, experience gained within a consultancy or public sector estates environment will also be considered. Extensive experience of taking a brief from initial survey and concept through to handover is absolutely essential, guiding schemes through all stages of the design process. While the role requires an element of hands-on design, understanding the costs and challenges to ensure schemes are feasible before time and resource is spent is the priority.

Applications are invited from commercially astute Building Services Design Engineers with a wealth of knowledge across new build and refurbishment building projects. This position will require a flexible client-facing approach, attending multi-disciplinary meetings and educating customers on the viability of schemes before next steps are agreed.
