Design Manager - Civil Engineering - International Contractor - Swindon or London
About the job
My client is a leading international civil engineering company, specialising in complex market segments such as Transportation, Energy, Tunnelling, Building, Civil and Structural Engineering.
The company is proud of its achievements and reputation for innovation, dynamism, and excellence, built firmly on the commitment and dedication of each team member.
Due to the company having offices in Central London and Swindon, they can be flexible on the work location of the successful applicant.
About the role
They are looking to expand their Work Winning team with skilled and enthusiastic individuals to deliver various tenders across the UK.
They seek an experienced and highly skilled Design Manager to join their team in the civil engineering sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in design coordination, management, and leadership within large-scale civil engineering projects, with a proven track record of supporting tender processes to secure new work.
You will oversee and manage the design process from concept through to construction, ensuring all design aspects meet tender requirements and project specifications.
You will be required to raise requests for further information internally and externally from the whole project team and collaborate in the preparation of design programmes.
Please note that this role would be office-based 5 days a week until successful completion of a probationary period, after which you can apply to work from home 1 day a week.
About you
It is essential that you have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, architecture, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CEng, RIBA) is preferred.
You will also be required to have previous industry experience.
The role will require you to control external consultants and client approval teams to ensure the programme and budget are maintained or bettered while maintaining the ability to think innovatively to overcome technical challenges.
You must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and to persuade and influence others to gain agreement to and acceptance of ideas while being technically familiar with an extensive range of construction methods, materials, and products, advising on their suitability for application on site and alternatives.
The company will provide a competitive salary, company car or allowance, and other benefits (including pension and health care plan), accommodation allowance (if outside of a reasonable commuting distance), and access to outstanding training and career opportunities.
