Desktop Engineer: Tech Bar, Windows 10, Windows 11, Laptop, Desktop, Build, Troubleshoot
Our client is seeking a Tech Bar Engineer responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and assisting with IT-related requests. The ideal candidate is customer service-oriented, proactive, and skilled in troubleshooting a variety of IT problems.
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 240 days (initially)
Pay Rate: £150/day (PLEASE NOTE: Employer NI is paid for by the client)
Total Daily Earnings: £168/day (includes rolled up holiday)
IR35 Status: Inside
Location: Worcester
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
- Install, configure, and update software applications and operating systems.
- Assist users with account access, password resets, and multi-factor authentication setups.
- Escalate complex issues to the appropriate IT teams while maintaining communication with the user.
- Maintain an organised and efficient IT Tech Bar space.
- Educate employees on IT best practices, security guidelines, and self-service tools.
- Document incidents, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the IT ticketing system.
- Collaborate with IT teams to identify recurring issues and contribute to long-term solutions.
- Assist with new hire IT setup and onboarding.
- Support IT asset management.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems.
- Familiarity with mobile device management (MDM) solutions.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, software.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of IT security best practices.
Soft Skills:
- Flexible approach and ability to work co-operatively within a newly created team environment
- Should be a self-starter and be able to perform quality assurance and control to create technical deliverables.
- Experience in operationally supporting large, complex technical environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capability to organise and prioritise tasks
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish/maintain relationships and interact with team members
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
