Diesel Fitter Apprentice x2 SFG Engineering

Job requirements:

Job responsibilities:

Assisting current qualified diesel fitters working on all sizes of marine diesel engines.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Cleaning of workshop
• Cleaning of diesel engine components
• Assisting diesel fitters on various repair and service projects out in the field as well as within the workshop.

Specific Requirements/Additional Information:

Only candidates living around the following areas with good sober habits will be considered:

• Kraaifontein
• Brackenfell
• Durbanville
• Parow
• Plattekloof
• Goodwood
• Kensington
• Milnerton
• Bothasig

Candidate will start off with a 3-month contract; thereafter, one of the following decisions based on work ethics and knowledge skill set will be made:

1. They wowed the client, and the client will employ them permanently.
2. They still need to prove themselves, in which case they will receive another 3-month contract.
3. They did not live up to client's standards, and the client will not renew their employment.

Once the candidate is signed on a permanent contract, they will enter the client's MERSETA diesel fitter training, which takes 4-5 years depending on the candidate. The individual will complete a diesel fitter practical exam and then receive their red seal diesel fitter certification.
