Job Description

Championing the right to sexual and reproductive health for all.

The fight for sexual and reproductive health and rights has never been more urgent. Around the world, fundamental freedoms are being challenged, access to essential services is under threat and communities most in need are facing increasing barriers to care. This is a critical moment for bold leadership, for a visionary who can inspire action, mobilise movements and drive change on a global scale.

The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is the world's largest civil society organisation advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). For over 70 years, we have worked through our Federation of Member Associations in 120 countries and Collaborative Partners in 38 more, to deliver life-saving services and champion human rights. At the heart of our mission is the provision - and advocacy in support of - integrated healthcare to anyone who needs it regardless of race, gender, sex, income, and crucially, no matter how remote. Guided by Strategy 2028, we are reimagining our future to be more locally owned, globally connected and unapologetically bold in advancing SRHR, gender justice and human rights.

We are seeking a transformational leader to serve as our next Director-General, steering our globally distributed Federation with vision, courage, determination, resilience and a deep commitment to justice. This is an opportunity to lead one of the world's largest, and most impactful SRHR movements, driving bold action to improve lives and uphold the right to sexual health free from violence, discrimination and inequality.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Director-General will provide strategic leadership across all aspects of IPPF's work, from strengthening the impact of Member Associations to driving global advocacy and policy influence. They will act as a powerful voice for SRHR, ensuring IPPF remains a leading force in the global movement for sexual and reproductive rights. With a deep understanding of international development, governance and the shifting political landscape, they will navigate complex challenges while uniting and inspiring our diverse membership and community.

The successful candidate will be a bold and strategic experienced leader with extensive experience leading large values-driven international organisations with a strong understanding of federated structures and governance. A skilled advocate and coalition-builder, they will influence public policy, forge high-level partnerships and drive impact. Their expertise in resource mobilisation will ensure financial sustainability and growth, while strong financial and strategic acumen will enable effective management of complex budgets. Exceptional relationship-building skills will allow them to navigate diverse cultural, political, and crisis environments with diplomacy and integrity. With deep sector knowledge in global health, development, humanitarian response, and human rights, they will be committed to grassroots, member-led approaches and driving transformative change. Above all, they will be deeply committed to the fight for sexual and reproductive rights, bringing authenticity, bravery and a relentless drive for progress.
