Job overview If you're an inspirational senior financial leader, we'd love you to join us as our next Director of Finance at the Wythenshawe, Trafford, Withington, and Altrincham (WTWA) Clinical Group. A high profile and visible role reporting to the Clinical Group Chief Executive, you'll be an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team, as we continue to provide excellent care services for our patients across Manchester, Trafford, and beyond.
Using your highly established finance and exemplar leadership skills, you'll lead financial planning and performance for the Clinical Group, supporting the overall financial performance of the Trust, working closely with Trust Finance teams including costing, financial accounts and the capital finance. Accountable for the analysis and evaluation of the overall financial consequences of different service options, you'll also inform the annual planning of the Clinical Group too.
Moreover, with substantial experience working in complex NHS environments, delivering financial improvement & long-term sustainable plans, you'll be autonomous in developing and driving delivery of robust financial strategies for the WTWA Clinical Group.

Main duties of the job
- Using your financial risk management expertise, you will lead financial planning for the Clinical Group, balancing daily challenges with strategic, long-term goals.
- With a track record in delivering complex financial plans, you will advise the Chief Executive and SLT on financial management to meet statutory and contractual obligations, Trust strategy, and policies.
- Professionally accountable to the Chief Finance Officer, you'll work with colleagues across other parts of the Trust contributing to Finance strategy, supporting team development and ensuring consistency.
- You'll have significant experience developing & implementing financial annual planning & strategy supported by appropriate modelling & scenario planning.
- As a people leader, you can set a vision, harness & nurture talent & manage performance to bring about change & improvement.

Person specification Qualifications Academic/Professional
- Evidence of recent and relevant continuous professional development
- Additional post-graduate degree or equivalent experience.
- Formal management or leadership qualification.
- Extensive senior level leadership and managerial experience within a finance function in an acute NHS Trust (or comparatively large and complex multi-disciplinary organisation).
- Fully qualified accountant with a recognised chartered accountancy body.
- Unblemished record with the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) / Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.

- A clear appreciation of the context of acute healthcare provision within the modern NHS and understanding of NHS financial frameworks.
- Extensive knowledge of clinical governance systems and (financial) risk management.
- Experience of developing and implementing financial strategy and business planning, supported by appropriate financial modelling and scenario planning.
- A successful track record of consistent delivery against NHS financial expectations and sustainable bottom-line delivery through sound financial and operational management.
- Experience of setting ambitious but attainable targets and leading the implementation of innovative solutions.
- Experience of developing and implementing transformation programmes, including the management of service change, organisational development and cost improvement / reduction.
