Director of Finance Transformation & Accounting Policy

Role Summary
We are seeking a high-impact finance leader to drive the transformation of our finance function, bringing technical excellence, digital innovation, and M&A execution capability. This is a pivotal role in our journey to enhance organisational readiness, embedding best-in-class processes, systems, and reporting across the group.
The successful candidate will lead the finance transformation agenda, oversee the accounting policy framework, support the delivery of group audits from 2024 through 2026, and act as the finance lead on complex transactions including M&A. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical accounting skills, a strategic mindset, and hands-on execution capability.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Transformation:
- Design and deliver a roadmap to digitise and automate finance processes (close, reporting, reconciliations) and tooling such as PowerBI or Tableau for real time insight into client performance and margins
- Shorten the month-end close from to 7 days for full close and reporting including all reconciliations
- Implement finance systems and tools, working with data and technology teams
- Partner with the onshore/offshore operating model for transactional finance (AR, AP, Treasury, cash management, month end) partnering with the Group Financial Controller
Accounting Policy & Audit:
- Own and develop group accounting policies in line with IFRS (or future US GAAP if relevant)
- Prepare technical accounting papers for complex areas (revenue recognition, contract completeness, share options, leases, etc.)
- Lead internal audit readiness processes and proactively manage external relationships such as advisors
- Ensure timely and complete audit delivery for FY24 and accelerate FY25
M&A Execution Support:
- Act as finance lead for acquisitions, working alongside deal and legal teams
- Draft accounting treatment memos (e.g. IFRS 3, 10, 15, 16) and support purchase accounting
- Support financial due diligence, SPA review, integration planning, and post-deal finance setup
- Coordinate with external advisors and auditors to pre-clear treatments
Governance, Risk & Controls:
- Strengthen internal control framework across the group
- Prepare for public company grade control maturity (SOX-lite roadmap)
- Collaborate with the FP&A, business finance, and group reporting teams to ensure financial governance is embedded across the function
Required Skills & Experience:
- ACA/ACCA qualified (ideally Big 4 trained or equivalent)
- Extension PQE experience with demonstrable technical accounting expertise (IFRS essential)
- Hands-on experience delivering or supporting audits for mid to large businesses
- Experience supporting M&A transactions including accounting treatment and post-deal integration
- Track record in finance transformation and systems improvement (e.g. ERP, Power BI, data lakes)
- Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
Desired:
- Public listing preparation or listed company exposure
- Knowledge of US GAAP or future transition readiness
- Experience working with offshore finance teams or shared services
