What You'll Be Doing
As the Director, Technology Architecture you will collaborate with CIBC business and technology partners to align objectives and translate requirements into a practical concrete design, employing your deep knowledge and understanding of technical design principles and best practices. This role will be responsible to deliver on business objectives, improving the way we work, creating meaningful value and delighting our client base. You will progress the architecture development processes through CIBC's architecture governance and control management frameworks. A primary focus of this role will be supporting the commercial and retail banking businesses.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role you'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
Key responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Partner with CIBC's technical and business leaders, external partners and vendors to guide the development of strategic solutions that align with organizational goals.
Architecture Development: Lead the creation and execution of architecture strategies that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness across all banking operations while ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Alignment with CIBC standards: within the portfolio of projects/initiatives assigned, act as an internal consultant to ensure each proposed solution meets the technical standards, guiding principles and architectural practices.
Driving Innovation: Stay abreast of evolving industry and market strategies that influence your work and promote the evolution of our design practice. Cultivate a culture of innovation by leveraging exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills to identify and implement cutting-edge solutions.
Governance and Compliance: Ensure that all architectural initiatives comply with established governance frameworks and industry best practices, mitigating risks and enhancing operational integrity.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization to facilitate collaboration and support for architectural initiatives.
Collaboration with Architecture Community: Engage with the architecture community to explore and develop Points of View (POVs) for selected technologies, sharing insights that drive architectural excellence and inform strategic decision-making.
Balance competing interests: between the delivery constraints (time and money) with sustainable solutions designed for our modern consumers.
Who You Are
You can demonstrate experience in: 5 years + End-to-end architecture with strong knowledge of enterprise Java stack, front-end technologies, mobile applications (android and IOS), middleware, databases (SQL & NoSQL), Data Lake, RESTful APIs, streaming technologies, DevOps, and Agile methodologies/tools. Ideally, you are well versed at identifying the need for and ensuring the development of key architecture processes to meet the needs of the business. You keep abreast of the external environment - IT best practices and regulatory guidelines - in order to provide stewardship, advise company executives on appropriate actions/plans and recommend the introduction of new systems to support the changing business environment. We're looking for someone able to self-drive to discover in order to define and develop solutions to problem-solving. It's preferred if you have: Previous experience supporting a Financial Services client. Familiarity with microservice, API, Cloud and headless design concepts and frameworks.
