Job Description
Job Title: Electrical Supervisor - Substation

Location: Necton 400kv Substation

NRL have got a fantastic opportunity as we are currently searching for an Electrical Supervisor to join one of our client's team. Our client is a leading provider within the Engineering, architecture and construction sectors, and they are looking for an experienced Electrical Supervisor to oversee day to day project duties on the substation.

Job Role:

To supervise and coordinate all electrical activities at a high-voltage (HV) substation site, ensuring that works are executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with technical specifications, industry standards, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Site Supervision - Lead and oversee all on-site electrical activities related to substation construction, installation, maintenance, or upgrades (HV/LV systems).
  2. Team Leadership - Supervise electricians, technicians, and subcontractors. Allocate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
  3. Safety & Compliance - Enforce strict compliance with site safety rules, including lockout/tagout, permit to work systems, risk assessments, and HV access procedures.
  4. Technical Oversight - Ensure correct installation and commissioning of electrical components such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, CTs/VTs, busbars, protection relays, and control panels.
  5. Planning & Coordination - Collaborate with project engineers, civil teams, and grid operators to coordinate works and avoid delays or disruptions.
  6. Testing & Commissioning - Support or supervise HV/LV testing, relay configuration, SCADA integration, and system energisation procedures.
  7. Documentation & Reporting - Maintain accurate records of progress, testing, inspections, as-built drawings, redlines, and daily logs.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  1. Full UK driving licence
  2. Nation Grid Competent Person NSI 6 & 8
  3. IOSHH Managing Safely or SMSTS or SSSTS
  4. CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport
  5. Minimum 5 years' experience in the T&D industry, preferably on National Grid sites
  6. Previous experience in a supervisory level

This position is an 18 month project and will commence from July 2025 on a 6 month rolling contract with a day rate of £375.
