Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.

Join us in our Road & Rail Traffic Control Systems, Signalling Design team where, as well providing support for the maintenance of legacy assets, you'll be delivering new systems and solutions to support the railway.
For this position your focus will be on delivering technical details, specifications, signalling plans, designs, drawings, calculations, information and estimates for signalling works to the agreed specifications, timescales, and authorised budget constraints. You'll make sure assets are safe, working, and compliant; develop your own solutions; and be a trusted source of engineering advice to your colleagues & other key stakeholders.
With proven relevant experience, you will work closely with your team and colleagues to deliver the engineering solutions & opportunities that keep vital, innovative, and multi-disciplinary big-budget projects moving.
Knowledge- Excellent understanding of the fundamentals of Railway Signalling Engineering and its practical application to high value programmes, ideally with experience in one or more of the following: mechanical interlockings, relay interlockings, Westrace systems.
- Knowledge of relevant TfL, British and International standards, Regulations, health safety and environmental considerations.
- Knowledge and understanding of delivery of projects through the complete life cycle; concept to operational service, using your knowledge of governing standards and industry best practice.
- Essential to have the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team but also to work independently where appropriate.
- Ability to lead the development and implementation of low complexity engineering solutions. Think strategically and identify and evaluate options, including cost and timescale implications.
- Ability to manage small multi-disciplinary engineering teams or applying engineering principles to resolve low complexity technical challenges.
- Ability to communicate engineering concepts to non-expert audiences, both orally and in writing, at all levels of the business.
- Ability to effectively engage with, manage and influence stakeholders and make connections across the business.
- Ability to design using CAD tools e.g., Bentley MicroStation and ProjectWise.
- Hold an IRSE Designers license and working towards a Principles Designer License.
- NVQ Level 4 or higher in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or similar subjects or equivalent experience, with an aptitude for practical & innovative engineering solutions.
- An Incorporated Engineer or working towards this or Chartership.
