Estates Security Lead
Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.
Package: C2 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)
Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight.
Clearance Level: You will need to obtain and maintain DV clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 10 years in order to apply for DV clearance.
Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.
Let us introduce the role
AWE is currently recruiting for an Estates Security Lead for the Security group.
Key Accountabilities:
- Interpret, communicate and direct the implementation of MOD security policies and other relevant standards in a way that best supports the needs of the company, whilst remaining compliant with all mandated requirements.
- Guide, mentor and oversee your team in the effective analysis and management of Security vulnerabilities.
- Identify training needs, plan and direct training, and monitor training standards to ensure the enduring management of capability.
- Assess external and internal requirements then plan, communicate and oversee the delivery of relevant and proportionate solutions.
- Being the lead subject matter expert in National Protective Security Authority (NPSA), and MoD standards; and in the liaison with other Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) organisations to promote the most effective and proportionate solutions to improving the security of AWE's estate.
- Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality, and be a great team player.
Key Responsibilities:
- Author new AWE security management arrangements.
- Conduct reviews of existing security management arrangements to enable the maintenance of security standards that are both proportionate and relevant to the threat.
- Support Company projects, including engagement with stakeholders, the provision of proportionate and relevant advice and support, the identification and articulation of security requirements, and the ongoing engagement with project staff to ensure that the solutions designed support the needs of both the Company and the project by delivering the required security effects in the most effective and efficient manner.
- Conduct assurance activity to ensure the optimal application of security policies and the maintenance of security standards.
- The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs.
Who are we looking for?
We do need you to have the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline
- Knowledge of project delivery
- Previous experience in line/people management

- Experience within an Estates or Security environment
You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
