Job title - Regional Engineering Manager

Location- National

Salary - £58,750

Key Responsibilities:

• To manage and lead a team of surveyors, ensuring day-to-day work is carried out to the highest standards.
• Develop and implement the regional operating plan designed to exceed KPIs and SLAs for operations with regards to both quantitative and qualitative measures.
• Communicate regular updates on regulations where necessary, ensuring they are effectively adhered to.
• Manage staff, oversee work schedules, and assign specific duties to ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, environmental and Quality policies, procedures, and company policies.
• Have detailed knowledge of the legislative, contractual, and operational requirements for all areas of in-service examination.
• Provide site and management support to field staff as necessary.
• Undertake staff reviews including appraisals, periodic competence assessments, and performance management programmes, managing any arising issues.
• Ensure inspections are carried out diligently, timely, and in accordance with the QA System.
• Lead and manage customer complaints within your geographical area.
• Respond to any Engineer Surveyor discipline or performance issues that fall below expectations.
• Address any Engineer Surveyor sickness or absence issues, ensuring booked examinations are reorganised and appropriate resources are provided when necessary.
• Resolve operational problems in any of their Surveyor areas and liaise directly with clients and Regional Services Manager as necessary.
• Ensure the client's statutory requirements are met, where applicable, in respect of the Company's responsibilities.
• Ensure that all plant on the contract schedule is examined in accordance with accepted codes of practice and appropriate thoroughness.
• Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of technical developments and changing Engineering Standards and Approved Codes of Practice in the particular service areas.
• Employ the Company QA Systems on all service areas.
• Review and monitor resource levels within own and adjacent geographic areas, ensuring adequate and appropriate cover for all examination types in discussion with the Operations Managers and other REMs.
• Ensure that Engineer Surveyors allocation is correctly sized.
• Verify and sign off vehicle mileages and travel times in line with the Company expenses and travel policies.
• Ensure that Health and Safety is adhered to in line with policy.
• Participate in the recruitment process for additional resources where necessary.
• Maintain effective working relationships across internal stakeholder groups.
• Lead on projects as required by the Operations Managers.
• Undertake any additional duties delegated by the Operations Manager or Senior Manager, such as department Head, as necessary.
• Participate in the Emergency Duty Manager on a rostered basis throughout the year.

Skills & Experience

• Proven track record of successfully managing regional teams.
• Strong customer communication skills are essential, with the confidence to make professional judgements.
• Strong stakeholder management and engagement experience.
• Good commercial and financial acumen.
• Ability to understand, manage, and deliver KPIs.
• Self-organisation.
• Proficient knowledge of MS Office and Apple products.
• Clear understanding of industry protocol.
• Previous experience in an Engineering role, with a focus on an Engineering discipline associated with in-service inspection would be advantageous.
