About the team we are recruiting to

R&M is a service area within Coventry City Council which provides repair and maintenance services to Coventry City's operational, commercial and school portfolio. We have a dedicated team with over 30 years' experience of completing emergency and responsive repairs, planned preventative maintenance schedules and property improvements and refurbishments.

The R&M team is multi-disciplined providing building works, refurbishments, general maintenance, gas servicing, maintenance and installations, electrical works and a 24 hour a day, 365 days a year emergency call out service across all trades.

The service area aims to:

  • Ensure that all statutory compliance with industry standards, British standards and relevant Approved Codes of Practice are achieved.
  • Repairs are carried out swiftly and to a high standard.
  • Projects are delivered on time and on budget.

We are seeking positive, experienced, enthusiastic, talented and driven professionals who care about the development of our great city to join our busy, top performing, forward thinking Regulation services.

What is the job role?

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Facilities Support Manager, reporting directly to the Operations Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the delivery of comprehensive, high-quality, and cost-effective Facilities Services to multiple premises across the city.

We are seeking an individual with a strong background in Facilities Management or extensive experience in customer service roles. The ideal applicant will possess the leadership skills necessary to oversee and improve service delivery across a range of facilities, ensuring exceptional service and efficiency.

Main duties of the job

  1. Ability to lead multiple priorities and conflicting demands in a pressurised and dynamic environment.
  2. Meet demands and deadlines, ensuring achievement of key performance indicators, SLAs and assessment of the service's performance.
  3. Be an experienced manager with analytical insight, with an influential approach to leadership.
  4. Arrange/review Service Level Agreements and/or contracts for existing and new services.
  5. Ensure the provision of cost-effective Facilities Services in accordance with any SLAs or contract documentation, including all necessary service enhancements and the delivery of required cost efficiency savings.
  6. Provide effective management within all Facilities Services areas to ensure good professional standards and compliance with statutory legislation.
Who are we looking for?

No prior experience is required, but you will need to bring commitment, passion, attention to detail, a strong desire to learn and a strong sense for safety. No two days are the same within this fast-paced operating environment. Team working and problem solving will be skills you rely on to succeed.

Applicants must have at least a Maths GCSE 4/C or above (or equivalent) and a GCSE 3/D or above (or equivalent). Time management skills are essential.
