Job Description
Family Help Deputy Practice Manager

Please be aware this is a Long Term Temporary post to start ASAP.

You will assist the Family Help Practice Manager in the day-to-day management of one or two Neighbourhood Teams for children and families. Working within a multi-agency framework, you will support families with complex needs, working as their champion and advocate to improve aspirations and outcomes by building on strengths to reduce dependency on public services.

In line with the key principles of 'Progress With Unity', you will embody the values and behaviours, working with colleagues across the Council and its wider partners, to achieve the best outcomes for families. You will help to deliver and lead good quality, child-centred practice across the service.

You will ensure that practice is underpinned by the Progress with Unity principles and that the practice model is embedded in all our work with children and families. You will demonstrate effective leadership and management to support staff.

The Council is committed to complying with the European General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and meeting the requirements of the Information Commissioner's office (regulating data protection compliance in the UK). It is your responsibility to ensure that the work you undertake is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulations.

As part of your role, on an ongoing basis you will:

  1. Assist the Family Help Practice Manager in ensuring the delivery of a high performing, quality and effective service to children and families.
  2. Support the management of the team's workload, assume responsibility for complex work and deputise for the Family Help Practice Manager.
  3. Support the management of the team to develop action plans alongside families, coach, challenge and support them to build resilience within families and communities.
  4. Adopt an asset-based approach, building positive relationships with children and families, supporting staff to develop and strengthen family networks.
  5. Support the implementation of legislation and government guidance in relation to statutory and local performance indicators.
