We are currently partnering with a well-established and respected law firm in Lancashire to recruit a highly skilled and experienced Head of Department (HOD) for their Family Law team. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a talented family solicitor who is ready to take on the responsibility of managing and developing a busy department, overseeing a team, and ensuring the continued delivery of exceptional family law services to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop the Family Law department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services to clients across a range of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, financial settlements, and domestic violence.
- Manage a team of solicitors, paralegals, and support staff, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure efficient and effective department operations.
- Drive the growth and success of the department by maintaining existing client relationships and developing new business opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and maintain a high level of client satisfaction and retention.
- Act as a senior point of contact for clients, providing expert legal advice and guidance on complex family law matters.
- Take a strategic role in the firm's business development activities, including marketing, networking, and client engagement.
- Manage financial performance of the department, including setting budgets, monitoring profitability, and meeting key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Provide mentoring and support for junior staff members and ensure ongoing professional development opportunities within the department.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor with at least 5 years PQE in Family Law.
- Proven experience managing and leading a team within a legal setting, preferably in Family Law.
- Strong technical knowledge of family law, with experience handling complex cases and high-value matters.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Demonstrated business development and marketing skills, with a track record of expanding client base.
- A proactive and forward-thinking approach to leadership, with the ability to motivate and inspire your team.
- A client-focused mindset with the ability to provide clear, practical, and empathetic advice.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
