POSITION SUMMARY:

Join Alexander Dennis as a Field Service Engineer in the Birmingham area and help us shape the future of eco-friendly transport! You'll be responsible for keeping our cutting-edge buses on the road, diagnosing and repairing vehicle issues, performing both reactive and preventative maintenance, and ensuring all paperwork is completed efficiently. We're seeking someone with experience in buses or heavy vehicles, skilled in electrical diagnostics and mechanical repairs, and ready to take on a flexible, hands-on role. WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Ensure maximum vehicle availability for our customers throughout the Birmingham area.
  • Diagnose problems and complete repairs in a health and safety conscious manner.
  • Perform reactive and preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards.
  • Complete paperwork (service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims) and upload information to systems.
  • Maintain a fully equipped van with tools and parts on a daily basis.
  • Work a 40-hour week, with hours of operation typically between 05:00-20:00.
  • Work on and learn about various vehicle drivelines, including battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell, diesel, and diesel hybrid.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of buses or heavy goods vehicles, or a complete PSV or HGV apprenticeship.
  • Electrical diagnostic skills, ideally using Multiplex systems.
  • Comfortable diagnosing and repairing engines and transmission issues.
  • High voltage diagnostic experience and FGAS experience would be an advantage.
  • Recognised qualification such as City and Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent experience.
  • Dependable, punctual, and reliable with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Excellent self-organising and planning skills.
  • A degree of flexibility is required; overtime payment will be applied for additional hours worked.
  • Computer literate and able to use Microsoft packages.
  • A Full UK Driving License.
