JOB SUMMARY

Our rapidly growing 'Build to Rent' segment requires an additional financial accountant to take ownership of all aspects of financial reporting for a subset of entities within the division. This role will play a key part in establishing reporting processes for new entities and ensuring timely accurate reporting of those already existing.

The build to rent segment comprises of all private residential rental assets on the estate. This includes eight existing buildings with additional properties completing over the next few years.

The role will assist the Build to Rent finance team to complete efficient quarterly close process for shareholder reporting and year end statutory financial reporting as well as ensuring high quality management information, analysis and insight is available.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for Vertus Edit, a subset of entities within BTR segment, involving detailed quarterly review of each entity's TB and associated supporting schedules to ensure that financial information is accurate, and entries recorded in the correct entities and codes.
  • Work closely with the Vertus operational management team to ensure necessary and accurate financial information is available in a timely manner.
  • Working in partnership with the commercial finance team to make sure that quarterly segment reporting is prepared accurately and in accordance with the requirements of the Group's main reporting deadlines.
  • Investigate, document and reconcile third party accounts with internal records, analysing variances and working with internal and externals partners to resolve discrepancies.
  • Delivery of annual financial statements within the required timeframe.
  • Liaison with auditors and dealing with audit queries.
  • Identify and implement system and process improvements.
  • Ensure intercompany billings for the segment are accurate and up to date.
  • Perform other finance tasks as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  1. Must be part or fully ACA or ACCA qualified and have experience in a hands-on accountancy role including the preparation of financial accounts.
  2. Must possess an outstanding academic record, with strong mathematical competence.
  3. Must have a good understanding of accounting standards; including old UK GAAP, FRS 102, IFRS and Companies Act requirements for financial statements.
  4. Knowledge of the Build to Rent industry would be beneficial.
  5. Must be able to self-manage, take ownership of tasks and bear responsibility for work produced.
  6. Must have a strong academic background.
  7. Must possess good general IT skills and be an advanced user of Excel. Experience in using Yardi Voyager system would be advantageous.
  8. Must be hard-working, meticulous and demonstrate attention to detail.
